Stern & Wild clients uncover hidden wartime history for Nat Geo’s groundbreaking docuseries

Three Stern & Wild filmmakers had key roles in the production of a new landmark series premiering on Nat Geo today and dropping on Disney+ and Hulu tomorrow. Erased: WW2’s Heroes of Colour is a four-part documentary revealing the untold stories of some of the eight million soldiers of colour who fought for the Allies during the Second World War. It is exec produced and narrated by Idris Elba, whose own grandfather fought in the war, and produced by October Films in collaboration with Elba’s 22Summers. Congratulations to the talented team from Stern & Wild who helped bring the series to the screen — Johanna Gibbon, Executive Producer, Annabel Hobley, Co-Executive Producer and Alex Thomas, Director.

The series uses a combination of dramatic reconstructions and archive footage to showcase the personal narratives of soldiers through oral testimonies, journal writings and accounts from their descendants. Each of the four episodes explores a different World War II engagement — Pearl Harbour, D-Day, Dunkirk and the Battle of the Bulge — focusing on at least three heroes of colour who were present.
