First Ladies and Top Women

Three women documentary directors hit CNN next Sunday with a major 6-part political biography series First Ladies, made in the UK by October Films. This is particularly cheering news for Stern & Wild because the show runner, and all three directors, are represented by our agency. 

Series producer Jim Greayer is a long-standing October contributor, and Stern & Wild member. He called the agency with a double request, to arrange his deal on the production, and for us to suggest candidates for the three director roles each to make two 60’ episodes about leading US First Ladies. This is a weighty documentary series and would need seriously experienced directors. At Stern & Wild we selected candidates carefully, and in the event succeeded in placing all three roles. 

Katherine English directed one-hour films on Hilary Clinton and Eleanor Roosevelt, Kim Duke did the same for Jackie Kennedy and Lady Bird Johnson. Liz Mermin directed one hour on Nancy Reagan and then a 90-minute feature special film on Michelle Obama.
