Documentary filmmaker Paula Wittig is well regarded for her multi-layered approach to storytelling, she delivers premium films that are thought-provoking, nuanced and meaningful. She has a unique ability to tap into the heart of what makes us tick, whilst also harnessing the bigger picture and wider meaning. Her career spans over 20 years in a wide spectrum of documentary making, with a strong list of credits for Netflix, Sky Documentaries, HBC Max, BBC, Channel 4, ITV, A&E and Discovery.

Her most recent project, Black Widow, is a premium, retrospective series for Sky Documentaries. The series is a bold departure from the conventional tropes of a True Crime boxset and takes a groundbreaking approach to overcoming the absence of police archive, through its highly distinctive and revered visual grammar. The three films are rich but elegantly constructed - speaking to wider themes of masculinity and male victims, female perpetrators, and our understanding of coercive control.

Her 2023, two-part series about Prince Andrew’s infamous Newsnight Interview - that sent shockwaves around the world - had exclusive access to Emily Maitlis and was the second highest-rated documentary on Channel 4 that year. Andrew: The Problem Prince blends archive rich biographical material, mesmerising first hand accounts, and high-end drama recon.

Paula’s Directing work on premium sporting series include the Grierson-Nominated BBC series, Gold Rush: Our Race to Olympic Glory and RTS nominated Italia 90: Four Weeks that changed the World, for Sky Docs.

Paula Edit Directed on MH370: The Plane that Disappeared, the ratings smashing Netflix series, which went to number 1 in the UK and US within the first 24 hours and Reached over 100 million hours of viewing in the month following its release, reaching Netflix’s top 10 lists in 86 countries.
