Helen is a BAFTA and Broadcast award-winning Series Producer and PD with over 20 years TV experience and a passion for compelling human stories, history and art.
She has directed high profile talent including Eva Longoria, Danny Dyer, Stanley Tucci, Davina McCall, David Dimbleby, Michael Mosley, Kirsty Young, Dan Snow, Lauren Laverne and Mark Kermode, and has helped new presenters like Dr Yasmin Khan & Sathnam Sanghera make their first series for which they won or were nominated for major awards.
Helen has worked on everything from glossy Emmy-winning international documentary series and BBC1 landmarks, to archive-filled history series and quick turnaround Arts programmes on BBC4. She has filmed extensively overseas including shoots in India, China, Japan, USA, Canada, Mexico and across Europe and has a valid I-VISA.
She series directed Channel 4’s passionate “Empire State of Mind”, a very personal & emotional documentary fronted by journalist Sathnam Sanghera about the legacy of the British empire in modern Britain. Helen directed the Oaxaca episode of the CNN series “Searching for Mexico” and filmed with Eva Longoria on location as she ate plate after plate of incredible food. Helen also edit directed the Emilia Romagna episode of the Emmy award-winning first series of “Searching for Italy” with Stanley Tucci for CNN.
Helen was series director of Long Lost Family: Born Without Trace series 5.
She won the first BAFTA & Broadcast Award for the long running series “Who Do You Think You Are” with her film that followed Danny Dyer from the East End slums to the throne of England. There was some swearing and laughs.
